Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at megan@nourishnutritiononline.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

What services do you offer?

At Nourish Nutrition Consulting, we provide one-on-one consultations focusing on personalized nutrition strategies. Based on an individual's needs, targeted recommendations may include comprehensive bloodwork, functional labs, supplementation, detoxification protocols and more.  Our goal is to empower individuals by helping them take control of their health through long-term and sustainable approaches.

What makes your approach different than other nutrition services?

As a functional nutritionist, our approach is unique because we consider the whole body and utilize a targeted systems approach. We base our solutions on individual bloodwork and health histories, ensuring that our recommendations are tailored specifically to each client’s needs.

Can you provide services beyond dietary recommendations?

Yes, our practice takes a holistic view of health. We recognize that successful transformation involves multiple aspects, including lifestyle changes, stress management, and personalized nutrition plans based on individual bloodwork and health goals.

Do you create meal plans

Rather than rigid meal plans, I provide flexible guidance and structure that fits your lifestyle. This helps you build confidence in your food choices and maintain progress long-term.

Will I need supplements?

If appropriate, I may recommend supplements to support your health goals. However, the foundation of our work is always nutrition, lifestyle, and nervous system support.

Why do I feel bad if my labs are normal?

The standard reference ranges are getting wider and wider, which means we often fall in the normal range, but that does not mean our health is optimal.  Also, a more comprehensive approach is often needed to fully evaluate a person's health.  Basic lab markers do not provide enough information.

What is Mind-Body Eating

This psychology based approach emphasizes letting go of all the "food noise" and guilt and shame around food, weight and the body.  This framework focuses on "what does your body need?" and learning how to care for your body based on that.

What client's choose to work with NNC?

We primarily serve women who are experiencing chronic health changes, particularly those related to auto-immune conditions and menopause. Our services are specifically designed to empower these individuals in managing their health effectively.

How do you help client's who have received a diagnosis?

We specialize in guiding clients through the transition from receiving a diagnosis to thriving in their health. We provide support and education on sustainable nutrition strategies tailored to their specific conditions.

What makes our approach different?

My approach goes beyond meal plans or quick fixes. I focus on helping you understand your body, your stress response, and how nutrition fits into your daily life—so you can create lasting change without overwhelm.

Can you help with autoimmune conditions or menopause?

Yes. Megan is a functional nutritionist for women with autoimmune conditions and menopause.  Personalize nutrition consultations for autoimmune and menopause focus on addressing inflammation, stress, hormone balance, and overall nourishment in a way that works for your body.

I've tried everything and nothing works.  How is this different?

Most approaches fail because they overlook the connection between stress, the nervous system, and how your body responds to food. We take all of that into account, so your plan is actually aligned with what your body needs as an individual.

Who is this NOT for?

This is not for someone looking for a quick fix or a strict diet plan. This work is for individuals who are ready to take an active role in their health and commit to long-term change.

Megan specializes in working with adults, not children or the elderly.

Is nutrition coaching worth it?

There is a tremendous amount of health information available for public access.  However this approach often offers pieces of the puzzle, not a comprehensive and individualized approach.  Implementing science and researched backed protocols and targeting bio-individuality is a key component of returning to health, which is the value of working with a Nutritionist.

What's the first step?

To begin your journey towards improved health, visit apply.nourishnutritiononline.com where you can schedule a complimentary brief phone call to share your health goals, get your initial questions answered and make sure you are a candidate for working with NNC.

What should I expect in my first consultation?

During your initial consultation, we will discuss your health history, goals, lifestyle, and food preferences. We will review any relevant bloodwork and start to develop a personalized plan that fits your unique needs.

How often do I meet with Megan?

We offer follow-up sessions to monitor progress, adjust your plan as needed, and provide continuous support throughout your health journey. Initial consultations may be held weekly or bi-weekly and maintenance consultations may be held monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes, all consultations are conducted virtually, making it easy to get support no matter where you are.

How long does it take to get results?

Every person is different, but many clients begin to notice shifts in energy, digestion, and overall well-being within a few weeks. Sustainable change takes time, and we focus on building results that last.

Is this covered by insurance?

Coverage varies depending on your insurance plan and NNC is considered out of network with all insurance companies.  Documentation can be provided for you to self-submit for potential reimbursement if applicable. Medical nutrition therapy is a covered benefit for HSA and flex spending.

Why is it important to focus on nutrition in relation to chronic health changes?

With the increasing epidemic of auto-immune conditions, many individuals find themselves without adequate answers or solutions beyond medication. Proper nutrition is a key component in managing symptoms and improving overall health, helping clients feel better and regain control of their lives.

What causes chronic inflammation?

There are many causes of chronic inflammation, which must be identified to support someone in their healing journey. This includes, chronic stress, hormone imbalance, digestive changes and poor gut integrity, food sensitivities and food allergies, lack of sleep, use of certain medications, and more.

Do you offer anti-inflammatory diets?

Yes.  Individualized nutrition protocols are offered to address your needs and health challenges, based on anti-inflammatory diet protocols.

Can nutrition help autoimmune disease?

Yes, nutrition can play a key role in supporting autoimmune conditions by reducing inflammation, supporting gut health, and addressing nutrient deficiencies. While it’s not a cure, a personalized nutrition approach can help manage symptoms, reduce flare-ups, and improve overall quality of life. Because every autoimmune condition is different, a customized plan is essential for long-term success.

What is the best diet for menopause?

As a functional nutritionist for menopause, I believe there is no "best" diet for menopause.  Menopause is a full body, systemic change.  Comprehensive bloodwork is the best starting point to get a clear roadmap for determining what diet approach is best for each woman.  Menopause is not a time of "one-size fits all."

Why cant I lose weight during menopause?

Menopause is not just a time of decreased estrogen,  Underlying metabolic changes are a common outcome of menopause.  This is why comprehensive bloodwork is so important to identify what the body needs now, in this transformational time.

Why am I always tired even when I eat healthy?

There are many factors that can lead to fatigue.  This is why it's so important to work with a Nutritionist to evaluate your symptoms, determine the cause and create a clear path for restoration.

Why do I feel bloated all the time?

Bloating is a common symptom, but is not normal.  Bloating can happen for many reasons including poor digestion, food sensitivities and allergies, constipation, or bacterial overgrowth.  Working with a Nutritionist is key for identifying the cause and determining the best steps for gut restoration.
